This session took place on a rainy Tuesday, but the studio atmosphere made everything work. My client wanted portraits that felt modern, clean — but above all, human.
I used a Nikon Z and a single softbox for controlled highlights without losing natural depth.
We moved around the space — by the windows, against concrete walls, near wooden textures. Conversation was key. That’s when people relax, and real moments happen.
When people think of studio portraits, they often imagine flat lighting and sterile backgrounds. But Loft 25 in Zurich offers something else — character, depth, and texture. It’s a space where light behaves beautifully and clients can feel both professional and relaxed. This session took place on a rainy Tuesday afternoon, but that didn’t matter. Inside Loft 25, with its industrial textures and soft window light, we had all we needed. My client — an entrepreneur working in creative consulting — was looking for clean, modern portraits that still felt human. Not stiff, not staged. Just real.
I shot the entire session on my Nikon setup, using a fast 85mm prime lens and a single softbox for subtle fill. We started near the large windows, using natural light as a base, and then moved toward darker corners of the studio for more mood and contrast.
Throughout the shoot, we talked — about work, about creative identity, about Zurich. That’s the part I love most. The portrait happens in between — in the glance, in the pause, in the moment when a person forgets about being photographed.
The client told me afterward:
“I’ve had portraits done before, but this was the first time it actually felt like me on the screen.”
That’s the goal every time.
